Production materials for Varney's "Les mousquetaires au Couvent" or "The musketeers," as it was known in English. The bulk of the collection is in English. There are three editions of vocal score, including a French version published by Choudens (Paris, 1880?), and two editions published by Oliver Ditson (Boston, 1881 and 188-?). The 1881 edition includes spoken dialogue printed between songs. A 2 vol. piano-conductor score is a concoction of the Choudens and Ditson vocal scores. It includes manuscript numbers, as well, and is heavily annotated. The four vocal parts are ms. Several promptbooks in the collection represent the opera as presented by the Bostonians Opera Co. and the Junius Howe Opera Co. Promptbooks are primarily manuscript or manuscript interleaved with published librettos or music, and several are typescript. There are three complete sets of dialogue parts (typescript).
